Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Goods-in team leader to oversee the receipt, inspection, and storage of goods within our customer‘s warehouse facility. This pivotal role involves managing materials handling processes, ensuring efficient logistics operations, and maintaining accurate inventory records through the Warehouse Management System (WMS). The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, and a solid understanding of shipping and receiving procedures, including experience with 3PL providers. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional to contribute to process optimisation and team management within a dynamic logistics environment.
The role is based around 0700-1630 Monday to Friday, and is a temp to perm arrangement with an immediate start available
Responsibilities
Supervise daily goods-in operations, including receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming materials and products.
Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and accurate documentation.
Oversee the utilisation of forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain accurate records of inbound shipments using the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and AS400 platforms.
Lead a team of warehouse staff, providing training, support, and performance feedback.
Implement process improvements to optimise goods-in procedures, reduce lead times, and minimise errors.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations related to heavy lifting, mechanical operations, and warehouse safety protocols.
Collaborate with logistics partners such as 3PL providers to streamline shipping & receiving activities.
Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy.
Assist in the organisation of shipping schedules for outbound deliveries as needed.
Requirements
Proven experience in warehouse management or logistics roles with a focus on goods-in functions.
Strong materials handling skills, including experience operating forklifts safely.
Mechanical knowledge relevant to warehouse equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and AS400 platforms for inventory control.
Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff effectively.
Knowledge of process improvement methodologies within warehousing or logistics environments.
Experience working with 3PL providers for shipping & receiving operations.
Physical capability for heavy lifting tasks as required in warehouse settings.
Organised approach with attention to detail in documentation and stock control processes.
Good communication skills to liaise effectively across departments and external partners. This role is integral to maintaining smooth warehouse operations through efficient goods receipt management while fostering a safe working environment and continuous process enhancement.
