Returns operatives

Location: Fradley Park, Lichfield

Rate: £ 12/21

Position: Returns Operative

Reporting to: Returns Supervisor

Based at: Lichfield (Training will be held at Wednesbury site until site open est. Early Sept)

20p per mile can be claimed for journey between sites during training. Applicants will need to be able to work at both Wednesbury from the outset and then Fradley Park thereafter.

Job Purpose

To process and grade returns into the business in a timely manner ensuring the returns area is kept tidy and all H&S requirements are always maintained.

Key Duties and responsibilities

· Accurately receive all returned items against the manifest, ensuring discrepancies are promptly reported.

· Open, inspect, and assess the condition of returned products, grading them according to agreed standards (e.g., Back to Stock, Green, Orange, Red).

· Record all return processing details accurately and in a timely manner in the Returns Management System (RMS).

· Identify and communicate any recurring product or manufacturing faults to support continuous improvement.

· Assist Team Leaders in gathering evidence for supplier claims and product quality disputes.

· Support the coordination and fulfilment of auction and trader collections.

· Process and dispatch replacement parts orders accurately and efficiently, as required.

· Ensure all returned items are correctly entered into the RMS and appropriately categorised.

· Liaise with the relevant internal teams when returned items fail to meet established quality standards.

· Provide proactive support to the Returns Manager and contribute to operational improvements across the department.

· Take responsibility for all site tools and ensure their safe use, proper maintenance, and secure storage.

· Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all recyclables and waste materials are properly sorted and disposed of.

· Ensure that all Manual Handling Equipment (MHE), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Forklift Trucks (FLT) are used and maintained in accordance with company policy and safety standards.

· Actively participate in warehouse team meetings and contribute to other operational meetings as required.
